Y10 Match Report

Sport 12th Nov 2021

The Y10s travelled to Priory Lincoln Academy hoping to get their first win of the season after an impressive game away at QEHS last Thursday.

There were two absentees from the team last week due to illness, most notably Tyler Chacksfield who is a very, very good footballer. Nevertheless, replacements were drafted in and the team remained largely the same as last week. After sitting in standstill traffic on Skellingthorpe Road for 20mins (if you know, you know) the boys got a quick warm-up and lined up for the Remembrance day 1-minute silence.

Sitting in traffic didn’t seem to affect them as they went 2-0 up within the first 10mins. Silko Grange-Smith thundered in a 30-yard feel kick after Antoni Gajos had been felled. Shortly after, City had not learned their lesson and failed to close down Silko around 20 yards out from goal and he hit another thunderbolt into the top corner. Unfortunately, these goals seem to awaken the opposition and we went into halftime 3-2 down. The next goal was crucial…

The next goal went to City and the TGA boy’s heads dropped. The hard work and pressure that had seen them be so successful in the first half dwindled and they ended up losing 7-2 to a very ‘vocal’ Priory City team.

The boys did the school proud yet again, they could have quite easily got drawn into verbal slanging matches with the opposition but they restrained themselves and tried their hardest to make a football do the talking.

We take a break for the winter now and then the boys have a heavy league schedule in March.
