Year 8 Stay Safe Day

School News 21st Apr 2021

Today at the Academy, we had the privilege of welcoming colleagues from the Stay Safe Partnership who have delivered a Stay Safe Day to all Year 8 students.

Summer, Year 8 student said: “I have learned so much today, it has been great fun!”

Dan, Year 8 student said: “I liked the online safety session best, it was really interesting.”

Kathryn Smith, Stay Safe Co-Ordinator added: “The ‘Stay Safe Days” programme aims to improve personal safety by making pupils aware of the consequences of their actions on themselves, their families, and the community.

The programme has had some excellent feedback from pupils because it does not tell them what to do, but gives them the facts and safety tips about the subject and raises awareness about what could happen if they take certain steps.

We have a great history of coming to The Gainsborough Academy and are grateful for the hospitality and continued commitment to providing their students with this opportunity.

Today our multi–agency team have been visiting Year 8 who have received the following key messages: Anti-Social Behaviour by Lincolnshire Police, Healthy Relationships by Lincolnshire County Council, Online Safety by Lincolnshire County Council, Alcohol and Drug Awareness by We Are With You and Fire Safety by Lincolnshire Fire Service. Thanks for another great day!”
