Well done to our incredible Y7 Eureka Club pupils!
Earlier this week, our budding scientists were invited to the prestigious Queen Elizabeth STEM Fair, where they ran their very own interactive stall. With over 1,000 visitors in attendance, including excited pupils from our local primary schools.
At their stall, the students led a hands-on investigation into the pH scale using a surprising secret ingredient: red cabbage! By using red cabbage juice as a natural indicator, they helped visitors test everyday household products to see where they fell on the acidity spectrum. From vibrant pinks for acids to deep greens and yellows for bases, it was a colourful and engaging chemistry masterclass.
Why it matters:
Student Leadership: Year 7 explained chemical reactions to visitors of all ages with confidence and clarity.
Community Connection: They inspired the next generation of scientists from our feeder primary schools.
STEM in Action: They showed that scientific discovery can happen anywhere – even with kitchen staples!
A huge well done to all the students involved for their hard work, creativity, and passion. The future of STEM is looking very bright!
