Following college, I applied for an Apprentice Teaching Assistant position at The Gainsborough Academy and was fortunate to be successful in my application, allowing me to continue my journey with the school. In 2017, two years later, an opportunity arose to expand my role within the academy. I successfully applied for the position of Non-Teaching Assistant Head of Year on the Pastoral Team, driven by my passion for helping both students and staff achieve their full potential.

This same passion and dedication led me to pursue and secure the role of Non-Teaching Head of Key Stage 4 when the opportunity presented itself. Since then, I have thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the ongoing successes of The Gainsborough Academy and supporting its community in reaching ever-higher goals.

My first year of university was a difficult transition from college, due Coronavirus and lockdowns; it was a struggle to get into a positive mindset. However, this did not deter me from achieving my goals, and I finished after three years with a 2:1.

Following university, I decided to take a break from education, and took the plunge with a move to Australia with a working holiday visa. The experience has changed my life and has certainly been an eye-opener. I am currently settling into an insurance role in Brisbane, working as a Catastrophic Specialist.

After completing my degree, I chose to further my studies and get my Qualified Teacher Status and PGCE in Secondary School PE.

However, since completing these, I have followed a non-teaching path. I now work with Acts Trust in Lincoln. Here, I work within the local community with at-risk young people, and in collaboration with the local Church, we aim to raise aspirations, and inspire the young people to make decisions that will positively impact their lives. We aim to reduce the risk of the local young people being involved with anti-social behaviour and getting excluded from school.
