Hands-On Science in Y8

This week, as part of their Y8 Waves unit, Mrs Eames’ and Mrs Thompson’s classes took part in a fascinating and hands-on science lesson – dissecting sheep eyeballs!

This practical activity gave students the opportunity to see first-hand the structures they have been learning about in class, such as the cornea, lens, retina and optic nerve. It was a brilliant way to connect their theoretical knowledge with real-life biology and understand how light travels through the eye to allow us to see.

The students showed great curiosity and care during the dissection, working carefully with their partners and asking excellent questions throughout. Lessons like these not only build scientific knowledge but also develop teamwork, resilience and confidence when approaching challenging practical work.

Well done to everyone involved!
